Boxing website ranks Floyd Mayweather higher than Pacquiao

Boxing website BoxRec.com has Floyd Mayweather Jr. on top of its pound-for-pound ratings instead of Manny Pacquiao.

Based on BoxRec.com’s ratings list, the undefeated Mayweather accumulated 1,650 points compared to Pacquiao’s 1,437.

The list is contrary to the current pound-for-pound rankings of the Ring Magazine, Yahoo! Sports and ESPN, all of which had Pacquiao ranked as the No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world.

Nonito Donaire Jr., who is ranked No. 4 in the Ring Magazine’s list, didn’t make it to BoxRec.com’s Top 10. Instead, he is ranked by the website at No. 30.

BoxRec.com is a website dedicated to keep updated professional records of boxers. It rates each active fighter using a computerized points-based system.

According to BoxRec.com’s ratings description, the list is “not influenced by subjective views or opinions, but are wholly dependent upon the bouts contained in the BoxRec server database.”

“The BoxRec computer re-calculates the ratings at approximately 9:35 GMT every day. As the computer refreshes its calculations, a boxer may earn or lose ratings points with every bout he has fought since the last calculation,” said the ratings description.

The website, however, has the following disclaimer: “This data may be incomplete and/or inaccurate.”
